A little corner section in a larger store has grown‚ twice‚ into a successful standalone store‚ thanks to a savvy focus on an untapped market.
Combat Creations began its existence as The Crop Cupboard‚ occupying 150 feet of booth space inside a boutique. Today‚ it is the nation’s only storefront specializing in military scrapbooking.
Connie Campbell is both a military spouse and the proprietor of Combat Creations‚ operating the 1‚400-square-foot store at 4225 Western Blvd. The store offers general scrapbooking supplies‚ plus a full selection of military-themed stickers‚ papers and page decorations‚ representing every branch of the service.
But Combat Creations offers more than supplies – it offers support for spouses without family nearby.
“We have a group‚ the Combat Croppers‚ that gets together to ‘crop’ or scrapbook‚” Campbell says. “It provides a place for spouses and families to meet; especially now that the troops are getting deployed so much.”
Its reach isn’t limited to Onslow County. Through its Website – combatcreations.com – and special “Dog Tag” membership‚ Combat Creations attracts customers throughout the United States.
